Jalan Besar is one of the major stretch of roads in Singapore, which starts from Lavender Street and ends at Bencoolen Street. Along the road, you will find many preserved pre-war shophouses, small office buildings, small eating places (many which are internationally famous!), Sim Lim Tower (which happens to be the largest building along the stretch of road).
You will find many shops selling electrical items like lightings, fans etc. The famous Sungei Road Flea market is also along the stretch of road. It has many small roads which intersects to it, including Mayo Street, Dunlop Street, Dickson Road, Upper Weld Road, Weld Road, Kelantan Road, Hindoo Road, Rowell Road, Desker Road, Jalan Berseh, Syed Alwi Road, Kitchener Road, Plumer Road, Foch Road, Petain Road, Sturdee Road etc.
